High school is a time to create memories, to have fun and to hang out with friends. Photographing Carmen and her friend Jordan reminded me how important friends are. They are your tribe. Friends are the people you share your secrets with. They make the monotony of school bearable.

Even though there were ominous clouds on the day that Carmen and I met, we weren’t getting any rain. But about 15 minutes into her session, it started to pour. We took cover under the trees and when the rain slowed to a sprinkle, we ran out and took a few more shots. Carmen was such a good sport! Throughout the entire ordeal she remained calm and smiling and laughing. Those are characteristics that will take her far in life.
